Run it Back Challenge

Signed up for the Run It Back Challenge!  Not sure what I was thinking, this is going to be a lot of work!!!  I needed something to motivate me to get back in to shape. Hope this is it!

 

Description: The World Champion Kansas City Chiefs have begun their defense of their NFL Championship and runners and walkers in Chiefs Nation can take on the challenge of the 2020 season through the Run It Back Challenge!  The challenge works like this - Challenge participants will try to run or walk a kilometer for every point the Chiefs score in each game during the week following the game.  For example, the Chiefs scored 34 points against the Houston Texans in Week 1 on September 10, so Challenge participants will need to run or walk a total of 34 kilometers (approximately 20 miles) between the end of that game and the kickoff of the next game.  Those Challenge participants who are able to do this each week of the regular season will receive a cool finishers medal at the end of the season.  Now we realize we have gotten off to a late start so we want to offer you a make up week during the Chiefs bye week from 11/15 to 11/22 that you can use to get in the week one kilometers or, if you were able to get your week one kilometers in during the week leading up to the second game, you can use the bye week to make up for another week prior to the bye week that you were not able to reach your goal.  You will be able to enter your total number of kilometers into the registration system each week to show how you are doing.  The kilometers from the last game will need to be completed by noon on January 10, 2021. THIS IS NOT A RACE TO SEE WHO CAN REACH THEIR WEEKLY GOAL FIRST, OR WHO CAN GET THE MOST KILOMETERS IN EACH WEEK, it is just a fun challenge where everyone who participates is accomplishing the goal of staying active!  Think how much fun you will be able to have at the championship game party at the end of the season if you have been staying active all season!  Participants will also receive a great Challenge shirt that they will be able to pick up in early October to show off their commitment to Run it Back!

 

Week 1 - 34 points. Need to run or walk 21.1 miles. Can use bye week to complete this since I registered after week 1.

Week 2 - 23 points. Need to run or walk 14.26 miles this week.  

Week 3 - 34 points. Need to run or walk 21.1 miles. 

Week 4 - 26 points. Need to run or walk 16.1 miles.

Week 5 - 32 points. Need to run or walk 19.84 miles. 

Dot to Dot 5k 2020

September 20, 2020 was the Dot to Dot 5k. It's the first in person race I have been able to do this year due to many races being cancelled in this pandemic. Wasn't in shape because I haven't really been training without races to train for. Only registered for this one just recently when Jennifer asked me if I would run it with Reagan. 

Run it with Reagan. Well... really I ran it trying to catch Reagan the entire way! I think the start might have been the only time I was ahead of her! I would catch up to her during the race and she would say, "Hi Kathi, Bye Kathi!" and then zoom away! She ended up beating me by about a minute. She did great! She has gotten better at running/walking in intervals instead of sprinting and then having to walk for long periods of time. I hope she enjoys running for many years to come!
